My blu-ray player broke, what should I do to fix it?
I have an Insignia blu-ray player since X-mas 2008, it has been working fine up till now. I just watched a movie on it yesterday in fact. Then today I go to watch a blu-ray movie and it wont play! Then I put in a DVD and it STILL wont play, it just trys to read the disc, but it says read error. So I try 5 dvds and 5 blu-rays and I still get the same result! Then I put in my maxell lens cleaner and see if that works, and Still nothing will read! I even cleaned it like 3 times! What is the problem?! Can I take it to the geek squad at Best Buy, to see if they will fix it? Or do I just have to buy another blu-ray player? Or is there a way I can fix it myself?
You probably can't fix it yourself, and geek squad is mainly for fixing computers (because a lot of computer problems are just software and easier to fix than hardware).
You should call Insignia and find out what they would charge to fix it, and remember you would also have to pay to ship it to them. If the repair cost plus the shipping is more than half the cost of a new Blu-Ray player, then don't fix it and get a new player instead.
Sharp LC40LE830U - Excellent Television Plenty Of Inputs With The Fantastic Good Quality
I bought a 37" LG 37LV5300 along with the picture was excellent however the speakers had been horrible, there was some motion blur (despite the fact that it was also 120hz) and whenever the display was supposed to become entirely black you could see the LED bleeding via around the corners. This Sharp LC40LE830U is a lot better! It's a bit far more pricey but I plan to maintain it to get a although and it really is really worth the price tag distinction. The blacks are really dark and the image is extremely stable and the 120 hz refresh rate permits you to view films at 24 frame a second rate that they're filmed in (most US movies are filmed at 24 frames per second so if your tv has a refresh rate of 60 hz then the tv has to double up on some frames. It isnt quite noticeable but it tends to make a distinction. I think broadcast is 30 frames a second so it does not make a difference. To get a flat screen it has wonderful sound and even though not a property shaker the speakers are not tiny whatsoever (an enormous improvement more than the LG). An additional good feature is the fact that the screen will adjust the back lighting to match the light level of the area, it operates genuinely well, and is significantly better than a equivalent function on my laptop. The screen includes a semi matte finish and it does a terrific job of decreasing reflections and includes a very broad viewing angle that is excellent because our television room will not have the top setup. The tv also has power saving features like one particular that will turn it off if it has been idle for 3 hours.
The LC40LE830U has a lot of functions and an Aquos hyperlink that makes it possible for it to handle other devices like your DVD player once you select your DVD input. The Tv over the air receiver is quite great though using the newer digital television there is a slight lag. I feel the LG had a greater receiver but I do not view too a lot over the air. It does have four hdtv inputs that is good for me as I can plug in my DVD player and Pc (it also includes a VGA input if your computer does not have a HDMI. It also has a mini plug input that works effectively with my computers sound (my video card does not have sound above HDMI although some do). The sound input is shared in between HDMI 1 (with ARC, read beneath) and the VGA input.
1 actually good attribute is its web applications. I only use the Netflix however the interface is fantastic, it is possible to even search for films making use of an onscreen keyboard function and if you finish watching an episode of a television series and go back towards the menu the display prompts you to play the following episode without having going back for your queue. This can be much much better than the blu ray player or Netflix's very own Roku box exactly where you've to add the episodes with a personal computer prior to watching.
If I could I'd take a half star off since it has some time lag issues using the sound with my DVD. I've a Sony 770w blu ray and it synced up fine with the LG but I had to adjust the player to ensure that the sound matched the video on the Sharp. In case your DVD doesn't have that ability it may be a problem. I also noticed the identical point with all the Pc nevertheless it is extremely really minor. I have not tried it with other devices this kind of as a xbox or playstation. I called tech support and they stated I might have to unplug after which plug issues back in to permit the devices to sync far better but that did not perform. I did try to cut back the processing effects and smoothing nevertheless it didn't support and actually lowered picture top quality. One more minor situation is the fact that only on the list of 4 HDMI has ARC audio return channel which need to lessen the audio sync issue although it didn't. ARC enables audio to go back from the Television for your receiver which need to aid take away any lip sync problems or let you pass through audio when say watching over the air tv back to your receiver without having an further cable.
Lastly the HDMI cables go in on the side so you've got to bend them down at a sharper curve than I prefer in order that they don't poke out from behind the side. If you use a little strap to bundle them or to keep the wires from the edge it isn't an issue. (or use 45 degree adapters).
General it's a very nicely made Television using a fantastic image and sound.
Speedy update: Tv nevertheless operating fantastic, the remote is just okay and is actually a bit prolonged for the number of buttons. 1 concern I am getting is using the Aquos Hyperlink which allows you to manage devices like the bluray by means of the television. A huge downside is that whenever you change the volume it adjusts both the Tv as well as the device you really need to control. I believe I'll plan the remote buttons to work with the DVD immediately which ought to present great DVD handle without having the volume situation.
I also discovered a setting that turns off the illuminated insignia on the front that enables you to know the television is on (only visible when the Sharp LC40LE830U is on so you cant see it in any with the stock images). It is a bright white symbol that was just a little annoying. Now it turns on once you turn on the television but fades to off right after a few seconds. Downside is that it's challenging to tell if is even on although an issue since the set turns itself off right after a little as talked about above.
