For those who found 2004's Aliens vs. Predator too lightweight in the gore-and-guns department, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem offers a marked improvement in both categories, as well as a respectable amount of rumbles between the title extraterrestrials. Set in the 21st century (which predates the story to all of the Alien features), Requiem sends a crippled Predator ship crashing to Earth in a small Colorado town; unbeknownst to the locals, the craft is loaded with H.R. Giger's insectoid monsters, which make quick work of most of the population. As the human cast is slowly whittled to a few hardy (if unmemorable) souls, a Predator warrior also arrives to complicate matters and do battle with the Aliens, as well as a ferocious alien-Predator hybrid (dubbed a Predalien by the sci-fi and horror press). Visual-effects designers and music-video helmers The Strause Brothers (who make their feature directorial debut here) keep the action on frantic throughout, which is wise, since the dialogue and characters are threadbare at best; that should matter little to teenage male viewers, who are inarguably the film's key audience. Fans of the Alien franchise, however, may find the offhanded nod to the series' mythology given during the finale its sole saving grace. --Paul Gaita

As bad as AVP was, it still had its moments. But AVPR is almost a complete fiasco.

I'm sure they would call it paying homage to these films but I think the more likely reason is they couldn't come up with good original dialogue so they decided to steal it. In the movie a kid gets face-hugged and I thought it was freaking hillarious. It is dark. That, or they didn't want to spend more money making some actual decent action sequences. I wanted them all to die.
The alien and predator fighting is hard to discern.
They are annoying.
Rather than buying it, do a youtube search for this video's best moments.
They can't act.
The condensed youtube clips are better than the whole movie.
Another thing that ticks me off about this movie is a lot of their lines come directly from the earlier predator/alien movies.
The people in this movie (like AVP) are just there to fill in the time.
I never thought I'd say this but I really, really hope that they NEVER make another AVP movie again.
The people who made this movie wanted you to use your imagination a lot.

No redeeming value, an abuse of the First Amendment

I didn't watch the rest of the movie because it was in pieces on my floor. Art is art, and I've seen plenty of depictions of children in jeopardy or in pain that were handled appropriately (The Pledge, Law & Order:SVU episodes). But after the scene where a mother in labor and her baby are horribly tortured and killed, I actually removed this DVD from my player and smashed it against a brick wall. No kidding. It was bad enough seeing a young child watch his father die, then be slaughtered himself early in the movie. And to make matters even worse, it's not even interesting or well made. This movie, though, I would argue crossed the line into obscenity.
To paraphrase Roger Ebert, if you have a friend who likes this movie, dump 'em and find a new friend. I enjoyed Alien, Aliens and Alien:Resurrection immensely. Like the Saw and Hostel movies, this one is a celebration of torture and human suffering, and it goes way, way, way over the line by depicting children, even a baby, being mutilated alive. Another example of how sicko, hack movie makers have ruined the horror genre. As for the "brothers" who made this movie, I suggest they spend a night in an emergency room, or perhaps spend a month embedded with a unit in Iraq or Afghanistan, and see if they still take the suffering of innocents so lightly.

Predator - Requiem (Extreme Unrated Set) [Blu-ray] However I have to say the seeing the Aliens and Predators are a big selling point for me. Check it out for yourself and decide.Aliens vs. This one is better than the first though the story is lacking in substance and the characters are bland. On Blu Ray i find them much more interesting.

I stopped the movie right after that. I'll be sticking with the first Alien vs Predator from now on. I'm a mother and I went through labor twice. Sorry I'm drawing the line with that. Luckly I got it OnDemand so I don't have to have the DVD to worry about. I draw the line with pregnat(sp) in labor being injected with an alien baby. I will not watch that movie again.

Awful... useless... one of the worst movies ever!

evn if your turn off your brain, your senses will alert you how the intentions of the producers are fake, from the absurd lack of lightning (where you can't see the fights), to fast editing, through horrible "acting" and obnoxious directing (by two guys). IT's cheap, sickening, useless. IT does not serve even as mindless fun.
(because, believe it or not, I thought the fist movies, although completely unecessary and forgettable twenty minutes after leaving the theater, an enjoyable one). I did not even rent it, or downloaded it, I BOUGHT the DVD. It's onet of the worst movies ever, where producers thought: "This is trash, but some people will enjoy it". Yes, I'm a sucker, because I've watched it.
This os simply one of the worst movies ever. I could not believe it. It's the worst that Hollywwod can offer.
