The Voyeur, based on the famous erotic novel (L'uomo che guarda) by Alberto Moravia, tells the story of Eduardo "Dodo," who in public is a professor of French literature but in private a desperately lovesick cuckold, married to the ever-more-elusive Silvia. His life shattered, he becomes an onlooker rather than a participant in life. Those around him, though, seem to be living life to the fullest: his bedridden father has a scantily clad nurse and a series of lady friends; his students have unending sexual fun, sometimes in his presence; and even the public beach has become an orgy ground. Through a series of small revelations, Dodo slowly comes to realize who his rival is. The discovery, rather than destroying his marriage, strengthens and renews it. Erotic filmmaker Tinto Brass is here at the height of his powers, crafting an unforgettable fable of sexual desire. The music by Riz Ortolani is seductive, the sets and designs are sumptuous, and the photography is as stunning Hitchcock's. The lead performers, Francesco Casale and Katarina Vasilissa (a Polish photomodel) are both eye-catching. Cult Epics is proud to present the US premiere of the Uncut Italian Director's Cut.

I haven't seen all of Tinto Brass' movies (yet), but so far this is the best. Katarina Vasillissa is beautiful, both looks and body; and you can't help but love the maid. The story is not great, but we don't expect that anyway. First ten minutes are worth the price of the disk, reverse strip is pretty cool.

This is the first time that I have seen a Tinto Brass production which I think is beautifully and tastefully done. Subsequently, I ordered two more of his work.Private and Cheeky which I do not rate as high as Voyeur.

Well worth the price and wait. Buy it, you'll like it. I repeat, beautiful women and lots of sex and nudity. The subtitles spoiled it a little. There's alot of action it this one and the story to it was well done. The two babes in this one steal the show and make the movie.

Why can't more soft-core be shot at this level?

Time to try other movies by him. An Oscar for Tinto.even though I think he has already enjoyed his share of earth's blessings.
Thank you Tinto Brass. Moreover, "Voyeur" throws a vastly different slant on feminism from the one we are fed daily.
This is a beautiful movie in every way. The filming, the lighting, the gorgeous pastel colors, the not-too-soft soft-focus, and of course the stunning women make this DVD a joy.
It may be fantasy, but Brass' approach brings men joy in showing women fulfilled and happy IN BEING WOMEN. The man has a jaw-droppingly healthy attitude toward sex, nudity, bodies, women, love, humor, and movie making.
If this movie doesn't show the empowerment of women in ways that men cannot but like, even though they (we) find hard to handle then what does.
