"When you look at me, what do you see?" pontificates football star Joe Kingman, then provides the answer: "Greatness." Well, clearly an ego like that needs to be brought down to size--pint-size. The winning family comedy The Game Plan has a whole lot going for it, including star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who's a natural comedic actor (and the camera loves him), and the young actress (Madison Pettis) who plays the daughter he didn't know he had, Peyton. The plot doesn't break much new ground, since many films have mined the territory of the self-indulgent child-adult who suddenly "inherits" a child (from Three Men and a Baby to Baby Boom to Big Daddy to Raising Helen). But thanks to the charismatic performance of Johnson, the film is winsome and uplifting. Johnson's comic timing and straight-man face are spot-on, as is his warm chemistry with the sweet-faced Pettis. Also giving notable performances are the lovely Roselyn Sanchez as Peyton's ballet teacher, and Kyra Sedgwick as Kingman's hard-nosed agent who's aghast at the appearance of an out-of-wedlock child. Children and adults both can enjoy the movie's warm-and-fuzzy moral of making family where you find it--or where it finds you. --A.T. Hurley

I never got it

I never got the item for the person that I purchased it form. I am very disappointed in the order.

Hilarious!

I have to admit, being a pro wrestling fan, I do miss Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the ring. High recommendation. On this film, he plays a selfish football player who discovers that he has a young daughter (played by Madison Pettis) by his ex-wife. While I am an action junkie type, some good and clean (for the most part) comedy is good for the soul here and there. From there, comedic chaos reigns as we get one funny event after another which sees Dwayne's character change from selfish football player into a man that wants to be a part of his daughter's life. Those that watched those glory days in the WWE in the late 90's to 2003 knows what I am talking about.

I originally got this as a gift for my mom BUT I ended up watching it for myself and will buy this film for me one day. That being said, this actually plays to one of his strengths when he was wrestling and that's comedy. Morris Chestnut (who plays one of Dwayne's few friends and teammate) also plays a pivitol role in this film. Roselyn Sanchez (Rush Hour 2) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) also stars in this comedy. Its a very good comedy.

"The Game Plan" and "Underdog" videos

I purchased these movies for my granddaughters and they were just THRILLED with them. I had no problem ordering them, having them sent to THEIR address versus mine, and they arrived safe and sound within 3 days of my order. Thank you.

The King Meets His Match

Dwayne Johnson & Madison Pettis make the perfect father daughter team. When Joe puts all the pieces together with his agent their first concern is his career but as the movie moves on we see Joe's mentality turn from superstar to dad. THE GAME PLAN is a hilarious heartwarming family comedy where one of the sports toughest players meets his biggest challenge - his daughter and learning fatherhood. Joe Kingman played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is preparing for the championship games when his 8-year-old daughter Payton shows up with no notice at his apartment with the news that he has a daughter. As he gets closer to the big championship, he gets some quick lessons in being a father and making the difference to the most important fan in his life his daughter. The movie is the perfect family movie and I give Disney two thumbs up for this one. It is a classic to add to any family's collection.
