A Much Darker Buffy

Since Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) "died" at the end of Season Five, the initial episodes of this season deal with her resurrection, courtesy of a black magic spell cast by best friend Willow (Alyson Hannigan). © Michael B. Then, there's "Normal Again," which places Buffy in an alternate reality. Xander (Nicholas Brendon) and his former-demon girl friend, Anya (Emma Caulfield), continue their romance to a heart-breaking climax in the "Hell's Bells" episode, and Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) spends much of the season back in England. This is certainly the most compelling BUFFY season thus far. Among the many DVD extras is the A&E series overview. Druxman, author of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD (available December 2008)

Sadly, their moronic schemes result in multiple tragedies, causing a grief-stricken Willow to try to destroy the world via black magic. Buffy's back, but there's something different about her. It's a great premise which, in this writer's opinion, should have been the basis for the series finale. The stand-out episode is, without question, "Once More, With Feeling," a delightful one-hour Broadway-style musical in which the entire cast either sings or dances.

Nobody Drowns in Mineral Lake. Though series creator Joss Whedon's special brand of humor is still present, BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, Season Six, has a much darker edge than previous seasons. Additionally, Buffy is forced by a lack of finances to get a low level job and also has to deal with the fact that sister Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) has become a shoplifter. The chief villains this season are three geeks who have caused Buffy problems in previous seasons and have now decided to become the crime lords of Sunnydale.

Shadow Watcher. It's so different that she even begins a torrid affair with nasty, albeit psychologically neutered, vampire Spike (James Marsters).

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #6:Still the best!

I'm very satisfied with my purchase and I'm going to order the Seventh Season. That still is one of the best TV series I know. I live in Brazil and my order came quickly and on perfect conditions.

Buffy's Darkest Season

In the end, Buffy is an excellent show because it features clever humor, imaginative villains and dilemmas, exciting action sequences, and lots of hot chicks (Hey, you know that's part of it). Season six isn't the most fun of all of the seven great years of Buffy, but it very well may end up being one of my favorites. The characters in Buffy are not perfect people. They have their flaws, and they make some very bad choices (understatement). The reason Buffy is a great show is that the actors, writers, and directors really did an awesome job, and the characters are so very real. This is even true of the battle at the end of the season. This season is depressing, but it is probably the closest analogue of real life that the show ever has to offer.

Without giving too much away, this season features the total loss of innocence for all of the main characters. Even though the crisis is set in motion by Warren of the Trio, the conflict is between members of the gang. The characters show that they really are incredible because they manage to face their own faults and demons in a way that few people can.

This is the only season where the greatest challenges the Scooby Gang must face don't actually come from the "Big Bad." Instead, most of the serious problems that arise are a result of internal conflict. I agree with some critics that it is difficult to watch our beloved Buffy characters self-destructing, but their behavior shows that they really are human. By the end of this season, all of the characters have gone through some huge changes.

The villains for most of the season are bumbling idiots (despite the fact that they're super-geniuses with demonology, magic, and robotics). This might be the strangest season of Buffy. Those that survive find ways to cope, and they carry on.

Depressing & different, but good

The show is much darker, more graphic, more intense. The main complaint about season six is the storyline.

Essentially, every character on the show becomes self-destructive. There is some good stuff in there, some of it is just tough to get through.

While this is something that does happen in life, watching these characters you know and love destroy themselves and each other is painful. But on thing is clear at this point in the show: Buffy ain't for kids anymore.

Season six is definitely my least favorite season, but if your a Buffy fan its still worth watching. Buffy Season Six is very different than what you have seen with the past five seasons.

All season you have to watch them go through pain and inflict pain.
