Editorial Reviews:

Based on the bestseller by Stephen E. Ambrose the epic 10-part miniseries Band of Brothers tells the story of Easy Company 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division U.S. Army. Drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company as well as soldiers' journals and letters Band of Brothers chronicles the experiences of these men who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear. They were an elete rifle company parachuting into France early on D-Day morning fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and capturing Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden. They were also a unit that suffered 150 percent casualties and whose lives became legend.Running Time: 705 min.System Requirements:Starring: Damian Lewis Donnie Wahlberg Ron Livingston Matthew Settle Rick Warden Frank John Hughes Scott Grimes Neal McDonough Rick Gomez Eion Bailey James Madio Kirk Acecedo Michael Cudlitz David Schwimmer Mark Lawrence Douglas Spain Michael Fassbender Jimmy Fallon Colin Hanks Tom Hanks. An impressively rigorous, unsentimental, and harrowing look at combat during World War II, Band of Brothers follows a company of airborne infantry--Easy Company--from boot camp through the end of the war. The brutality of training takes the audience by increments to the even greater brutality of the war; Easy Company took part in some of the most difficult battles, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the failed invasion of Holland, and the Battle of the Bulge, as well as the liberation of a concentration camp and the capture of Hitler's Eagle's Nest. But what makes these episodes work is not their historical sweep but their emphasis on riveting details (such as the rattle of a plane as the paratroopers wait to leap, or a flower in the buttonhole of a German soldier) and procedures (from military tactics to the workings of bureaucratic hierarchies). The scope of this miniseries (10 episodes, plus an actual documentary filled with interviews with surviving veterans) allows not only a thoroughness impossible in a two-hour movie, but also captures the wide range of responses to the stress and trauma of war--fear, cynicism, cruelty, compassion, and all-encompassing confusion. The result is a realism that makes both simplistic judgments and jingoistic enthusiasm impossible; the things these soldiers had to do are both terrible and understandable, and the psychological price they paid is made clear. The writing, directing, and acting are superb throughout. The cast is largely unknown, emphasizing the team of actors as a whole unit, much like the regiment; Damian Lewis and Ron Livingston play the central roles of two officers with grit and intelligence. Band of Brothers turns a vast historical event into a series of potent personal experiences; it's a deeply engrossing and affecting accomplishment. --Bret Fetzer

Band of Brothers

They truly are the greatest generation. (Graphic in nature) Without their sacrifice and heroism we as a nation would not exist nor the citizenry of Europe. A must see for those who want to know what WWII was like in both U.S. Highly recommended. Come watch this movie to learn about the heroes of World War II. and abroad.

A landmark television miniseries

Part 1 - Currahee. Part 3 - Carentan. This is a landmark television miniseries that I highly recommend. The episodes contain a high degree of historical accuracy and are of movie quality. It also makes a great gift that will surely not disappoint.

Part 10 - Points. The documentary is excellent. It's based on the excellent Stephen E. Part 8 - The Last Patrol. The miniseries was produced by Stephen Spielberg and Tom Hanks after their collaboration on Saving Private Ryan. Part 4 - Replacements. The episodes are excellent and remarkably well made. The miniseries begins in Camp Tocca, Georgia in 1942 when Easy Company begins boot-camp in preparation for World War II.

Part 7 - The Breaking Point. I recommend watching the documentary after you watch the series. It was originally broadcast on HBO. It's very enjoyable to see the actual veterans after you have watched the series and gotten to know them a little bit. The series consists of the following ten episodes, with each one about one hour in length:.

Part 6 - Bastogne. Part 2 - Day of Days. It follows them through D-Day, Operation Market-Garden, Bastogne, a discovery of a Nazi concentration camp, and eventually the Eagle's Nest in Germany. Ambrose non-fiction book of the same name. The episodes contain clips (usually right in the beginning of the episode) of actual Easy Company veterans.

Part 9 - Why We Fight. The episodes come on six DVD's, with a seventh DVD that contains a great documentary on Easy Company. This series follows the airborne unit Easy Company in World War II. Band of Brothers is an absolutely superb television miniseries. Part 5 - Crossroads.

Favorite Films

Waiting for it on BluRay. I won't write a huge review like the others, but I would like to say that this is an extremely well written and directed series of films. Since I ordered this in 2007, I've watched it countless times.

Band of Brothers

I was disapointted that the cd's did not come in the original metal container, they were just slapped together in little plastic containers. The additional cd telling how they made the movie and personal interviews was also not included.

One of my top Ten war movie(s)

I knew it was good, but seeing it from beging to end, I believe it is absolutely great. This series is well worth the time spent watching. I first saw this mini series in bits and pieces. It is a great tribute to the veterans of World War II.
